Our Project

Tailoring Training Centers

As part of our regular ongoing projects since 2014 we are providing Skill Development Training to the Deprived Women and Girls belonging from Very Poor Family Background who are living in remote rural villages in Narsinghpur and Badamba block of Cuttack district in the state of ODISHA.

In this remote village and also tribal villages as many of the beneficiaries are having no vocation at the living places, due to traditional customs their parents are not allowing them to go outside to work or learn skill development. In this critical juncture, the women and girls approached BMFT to start skillful vocational training centers at their places.

As Bobby Mohanty Foundation Trust is dedicated to bringing women empowerment and eradicating poverty and making each adult woman self-dependent by developing their skills since then we have been imparting TTC to adolescent girls, imparting training to 25 beneficiaries in each group aged from 17 years to 35 years.

BMFT provides all sorts of facilities like- 3 no. of sewing machines for learning and all its accessories (needle, thread, scissors, chalk for marking, measuring tape, and cut piece for practice). We have been providing three Months of Skill Development Training by appointing a professional trainer and paying a monthly remuneration. The trainer trains them in Fashion Designing classes to women in Dressmaking, Saree falls stitching, Blouse Stitching, Uniforms stitching, Inner wares, chudidhar& pajamas for teenage girls, and general dresses for girls and women. BMFT also provides a certificate of merit after the successful completion of the vocational training by the beneficiary which would help them in getting escort services in linking up with financial institutions for running a sustainable tailoring business.

As a continuous aspiration, to date, BMFT has already imparted training to 500 trainees/beneficiaries with a three months course. With the impact of TTC many women and girls are able to earn on their own without depending on other for their household needs & children’s education. Some of them have started small micro-enterprises and earn their livelihood as supplementary income for their household needs. With this skillful training, they are also able to earn income by taking orders from nearby locations. The women are stitching blouses, petty coats, school uniforms, falls on sarees, embroidery work on cotton sarees, children wear, frocks, etc. By doing this job they are able to earn handsomely, which helps their children’s education and adds to the supplementary needs of the family income. The impact is a good gesture among their families. Women and girls always express their gratitude towards BMFT.

BMFT is now planning to provide support to the beneficiaries to link up with the financial institutions after the completion of the fashion design course. BMFT feels that women and adolescent girls with this kind of skill development in fashion designing courses will create sustainable livelihoods.
